Today I want to share a story I haven't shared for a long time. It is a poem I wrote in the late 1990's. At the time I was on a journey to get healthy. I had attended a week at the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego. During the week we had two days of fasting and food intake that was all organic and raw. In addition we were drinking wheat grass pulp in its pure form all day long. By the end of the week I felt totally different.
I was also in the midst of a two-year course on the use of essential oils and natural herbs for healing. The course was intense and each week we had a practicum involving experiential use of the oils. To this day I often use some of the oils for sleeping or headaches.
One week during the course I shared by theory of life in Dave's words. I've shared parts of it throughout my blog history.
When we come to this planet we are a clean slate. We are in our full magnificence (made in God's image!) waiting to step into full voice. However we have landed on the planet in the company of stewards who have taken on the task of holding our space until we are ready to go out on our own. The difficulty is that they are not us! So we have arrived as this bright shining star and our light sometimes blinds others. The are uncomfortable so they reach out and bend down one of our star points. Just of course so it won't rub and be uncomfortable for them. Then someone else in our group finds another point that irks and they bend that point down.
The process goes on and on. After a number of years, all of our points are bent down and to all appearances we look like a box. We ourselves think we are a box. We work because we don't shine in such a way to make others uncomfortable.
But the fact we have our points bent down does not mean the points are gone.. The ppints are always energetically moving to open up. This is where the term "spiritual discontent" comes from. It is having everything going right yet believing there is something more ahead for us. So we start to take the steps that ensure that our points are freed - one by one.
It takes some trauma resolution and some hard work but as each point comes back into place we move more and more into remembering we are a star.
I shared this story in the essential oils class. One of my friends in the class challenged me to write a poem that puts in poetry my philosophy. He said he would be gone for a week so he pressed me to bring a completed poem in two weeks..
At the time I was attending a weekly Course in Miracles class. Each week we got together to share the course and what we were working on. I was doodling on my pad as we shared back and forth.
Suddenly I started writing and before I knew it I had a completed poem. I share it with you today.
THE STAR
A star born was I
In pureness and light
With freedom to fly
And clarity of sight
My points all full out
A connection to I
No limits, no fear
Truth speaking on high
Then others stepped in
And showed me their ways
And points became bent
And light became haze
Till there came another point
A moment in time
I thought "I'm a box"\
My points deep inside
But points aren't extinguished
Or banished or die
They wait to be remembered
They wait for the flight
And when all seems so black
I know I will die
That's when the growth begins
And wings want to fly
When memory is touched
The illusion exposed
And points explode out
Become bright lights of hope
In our truth do we shine
In our voice do we speak
To show we've come far
Once again we're a star
Today is another day for you to remember the star you are. It is your natural function. It is why you are here. I love how you show up. Realize in just being you you make a difference. Keep up the star you are; feed it well; and everything will happen............
