Talk to the Wall

This is my blog back. Back in the last part of December I started a rollercoaster ride and I've been through a few hospitals and a rehab facility since then. I continue to learn so much but I wanted to let you know I am out here in the ethers learning my lessons and giving my beloved written stuff as much as I can or sound stuff so that we can keep you guys posted.

Now my first quirky thing that I discovered at hospitals and in rehab is how often people are coming in to do things to you and with you - to do procedures - to be the next doctor to talk to you. One of the habits they have in the hospital and in rehab is they tend to come up and stand beside your bed just out of your point of vision and say, "hello Mr. Lyman, I'll be so and so today - your Nephrologist" - and I took to saying early on to them - "before you go any further, could you move so that I can be talking to a face instead of a wall?" It's almost as if they prefer that you know they're somewhere in the room. but they're not going to tell you where they are. It's quite quirky.

The other important thing in my learning I found is to know as you move along, there are many people surrounding you - and your job is to help their job be more successful. So you always ask that question, "what can I do to be a better patient?" And you realize that there are times when you're not going to get in the normal flow of things, but I found that anger doesn't work at all. It's just you saying in a polite way over and over again, "please take the next step for me." It's never about you - have you heard that before? It's an interesting thing.

I've been up and down hallways and met very special prayer chaplains and other very special people who are doing the best they can.

I also discovered that every Biblical name or spiritual name on the planet has been taking care of me. I had a nurse named Patience. I had a PCT (a patient care technician who assists nurses) take the next steps to take care of me. I've had Gabriel,. I've had Abraham. I've had Seoul and Joy. You name it and they've been here for me. And so again it points out to me that we're never off of God's path. We're on a journey and the journey just opens it up further for us. So my friends I open my heart up knowing it is that wondrous flow.

I hope you enjoy yourself this day. Namaste.
