The Olympics will finish up today. We can't wait to see how France will close its Olympics. The opening ceremony was very strange!
What an amazing 16 days it has been. Each Olympics has memory moments that will never be forgotten. We watched the US Women's rugby team take on the Australians for the bronze medal. The Australians were more experienced and heavily favored to win. The United States was down with 17 seconds left in the game one of the American players broke free and ran the length of the field to score with no time remaining. Then came the follow-up kick and the United Syates had won the bronze medal coming from behind to snatch a victory.
We watched moments of tremendous courage and levels of contraversy. We watched Steph Curry hit periods of time during the basketball games when he would not let the United States lose! At one point he made four shots from twenty or thirty feet out and hit nothing but net. His last shot in the finals showed him off balance heaving a ball k=just over the outstretched fingers of a French player. He was already heading the other way - he knew he had made the shot. Steph said after the game he had even impressed himself making that shot.
On top of that, we are living in an era of sports filled with the best players of all times in many different sports.
Tennis is a sport to watch as we move thought a transition period. For twenty years, there have been four of the greatest male players of all times. It was Roger Federer, Rafa Nadel, Novak Djocavich, and Andy Murray. For years and years, one of these four was ranked number one in the world. The four major tournaments had one of these four in the finals for the last twenty years. Now it the time of change. Roger and Andy have retired. Rafa may soon retire and it appears Novak will follow. So the young lions posture for position. It;s too soon to tell but it is so much fun to watch. Sinner and Alcarez seem to be leading the new crop with a number of others nipping at their heals.
Meanwhile on the ski slopes is one of the great female racers of all times. Mikalia Shiffrin has won more skiing events than any female in history - and she still has a number of strong years ahead of her.
Sumone Biles performed routines with difficulty levels no one else could do. She did movements named after her that no one else dared try to do. She is also doing this in her 30's.
We are so blessed! One of my favorite t-shirts of all times says on the front "I may be old - but I got to see all the great bands!" It is the same way with sports.
One of the really interesting things I noticed achieving my seventh decade is the fact that things are moving faster and faster. Magical technology is being birthed every day. It is so hard in today's world! Whether you buy a new car, a new computer, or a new picture frame I guarantee I will only use and comprehend about twenty per cent of how it works. I do not have the band width any more to really know what is going on! Si I pick up what I can and fake the rest. But then there are those who say that is how life works anywat!
There were times in Oz when Dorothy just surrendered to the ride and let the overwhelm motivate her. Such is my life but what a challenge! It is such a good thing that I'm in partnership with God. I know with faith I am on the path on my way. Thank you God for limitless possibilities.............
