The other day I got an email from a dear friend. He is someone that I served on some church Boards with and we bonded through our work. It was one of those days when I was in full frustration.
I was making full use of my mantra "I feel crappy and it is wonderful!" But in the midst of everything I was so tired with no energy; I just wanted to climb into bed and pull the covers over my head.
This man celebrates life and has been reading my blogs as I send them out. Every day at 5:00 PM he sits down with his wife on the back patio and they each have a martini. They don't spend a long time on the tradition; it's almost as if the one martini separates the day between work day and self-care rest day.
His attachment in the email was a photo of him setting on his patio table and there on the table is a beautiful martini. The olive was easy to see. But the greatest part was sitting next to him at the patio table with another martini was a rather large yellow minion from Despicable Me! I felt so heard and valued; he read my blog about minions and sat down to have a martini with his very own minion. It let me know that they were both thinking of me. It made me feel so good. I of course wanted to know if he could get his minions to do his bidding. His reply was he could not even get his minion to finish the martini.
He went on to tell me he has a tuxedo that he owns. He has added a minion bow tie and minion suspenders to the outfit. This is my kind of guy.
I realized at such a heart level how important it is for each of us to be heard. It changes everything. It is the ultimate 'I see you!" and we all need that kind of validation.
So keep moving forward in connection by sharing and continuing to see, to really see your friends and family and the strangers who haven't become friends yet. See who they are and let them know.
