Retirement

I have a friend that is one of the clearest thinkers. She understands people and talks with clarity. She steps aside from the drama and gets things done. It's interesting watching this part of her life.

She has now retired and it is so fun watching her process. It seems like her first approach to retirement is to use the methods that made her so effective in running things. There is just one difficulty with this. This is her next step, not a re-creation of her last steps over and over again.

Here comes an anology. She has been driving a highly functioning, powerful sports car that is unique and one of a kind. People got out of her way and understood this car could get places no matter what the obstacles.

But now she is onto the next step regarding what the next step is for her. She wants to continue to drive the car down the freeway getting things done.

Now is the time however to put the car into the shop and go through a re-design and this is the tough part. She's not quite sure what her final new design will be. She has all the possibilities in the world. She is not limited by boundaries or parameters. That sentence right thee will drive her crazy. For the first time, she does not have to worry about boundaries or parameters for the first time.

On top of that, there are no impossible deadlines. Thus this is a time to try out all the new things prior to moving forward. What an amazing time of life! But just as it is for all of us, the difficult part is to drop the worry and know whatever she does she's on the right path. In fact, there might not be a wrong way to do this. Imagine that?
