Since I am such a playful person there are some things in life that when they show up I embrace them with full heart, zeal, and great enthusiasm. Such was the very first moment that I saw the minions. I knew I had been put on this planet to have minions in my life to do my bidding just as they do in the Despicable movies with the great villian Gru.
Since that day, friends and family have gifted me minions of all sizes and shapes - some who even speak. But I have been so disappointed. I have two shelves on a bookcase and a credenza dedicated to all things minion. I have stood in front of this section of my home shelves and proceeded to bid the minions to do things - and nothing has happened. What a disappointment!
True minion lovers have suddenly found the Minion Mayham ride at Universal Studios in Florida. Gru and his daughters are in full attendance. There are actual banana trees and I am reminded that someone once compared the minions to The Three Stooges on steriods.
Minions remind me of the absurdity of the world. It is why this blog is called seriously God? The minions are cute, make no sense, and are wildly inappropriate. Yet isn't that just how the world shows up?
It is so easy to get caught up in all the distractions and to start to take each event and each situation with full seriousness. In doing so, pressure and stress build up quickly. Things move into 'life and death' situations. Yet there is so much more.
One of my friends is a clown! I mean a certified full-out clown. She goes to nursing homes and hospitals and appears as a clown that doesn't fit in at all - and yet fits in by her own way.
Her husband is also a friend of mine. He met this women earlier in life; he was a high ranking manager and consultant who traveled the world. Meanwhile she was doing adventure work with the ledgendary Patch Adams. The husband wanted to get involved with the clown program. Patch told him he could join the training program (which was on the other side of the country) but in order to do so he would need to travel from his home in full clown costume. He did it. My friend and her husband have had a grand adventure since then.
So you might want to notice if situations in your life bring huge amounts of pressure on you. You might want to notice if much of what you do is predicated by other people. You might want to notice that it is always a life and death situation on things in your life.
It might be that moment to become a clown. Or a minion. It might be time to relax; I gurarantee if you can but step aside and take a breath you will take steps to relax in life. Get a clue that the magic and miracles are all around us but we must participate to find them.....keep on searching.
I have a minion trunk and I truly believe the minion words on the side of it as sage minion advice - "You say poopye - I say bello!"
