Inspirations Part 2

Inspirations part 1 was posted earlier and then not finished. This is the remainder of the blog. I've taken the last paragraph of the first blog and then finished it here.

It's in the middle of the night and as usual I am wide awake. My health challenges give me periods of time in the midst of the dark night when I am suddenly alert and awake and ready to do things.

Some of this is centered around my pain levels and some of it is about the world and the things around how we all fit and what God has put together.

I have each year a file called "inspirations" which are items that reached out and touched me. So a few years back I found a piece called "spiritual truths." Let's take a look at some of them.

First magic rally happens and miracles still occur. It is our perception that sets up mind blocks making us think there is no magic. Each day is filled with miracles and I saw some today as I watched hummingbirds feeding at our backyard feeders.

The universe is listening and reflects back to us what we give out. It is a perfect reflection of how we see the world. This means in the end we create what we feel. The tough part for me is that in the challenges around my health and my pain I get caught up in 'rabbit holes.' These are deep dark places during which I have melt downs. I think in a way it is a step back and a pause to gather my resources of my Divine and move forward with my energy.

I've talked before that in this world my default positon in how I feel is that of an optimist. I know that at the very moment things are so good and and we are ready to take the next step I am filled with hope.

I sometimes forget that any internal workings that are not positive are ego based and not connected with the spirit I am. This is when I remember the foundation of being authentic.

One of the things I;ve done in my two month journey through the hospital/rehab system is whenever I got to a new location (Kaiser Morse Avenue; Kaiser Roseville; Eskaton Rehab; and Grammercy Court rehab) I requested a visit from the facility/hospital chaplain. One of my favorite chaplains was chaplain Freddie. Freddie showed up one day out of nowhere and we talked and we prayed. There's nothing more fun than to have two pastors who have been in the ministry business for a long time sitting and sharing memories. Holding sacred space filled with prayer, meditation, mediation, and church Boards. In my time, Freddie would show up typically out of nowhere but in just the right itme. I was out of the Morse Avenue hospital for a period of time. When I got back to the facility one day in my room Rachel found Chaplain Freddie outside my room. We now have a weekly prayer circle during which we check in and pray. What a blessing!

So this is a story about giving thanks. No matter what all the things that are surrounding you involving chaos there you are. You are still led by your internal North Star; that gyroscope that never gets out of balance. Your daily job is to make sure you have connected with that place which gives you balance. It is so easy to get out of balance and then it is like an off-balance washer hopping all around wildly. All that is needed is a re-adjustment, a re-balancing. This must be done by slowing down and finding spiritual food. This is the spiritual practice that is your own way to balance. So today spiritually feed yourself and balance. It's a new day; it's a new dawn and with Easter it is the time to bne re-born and rise, rise, rise. Your time is here!
