Harmony Brothers

This morning I had a rehearsal with some fellow musicians. It is a group we formed early in the century called the Harmony Brothers. For six years, our four-man group performed at Sunday services at a number of Unity churches in Northern California.

A couple months ago (after fifteen years) we decided to get together just because. Our first rehearsal was spectacular. We spent two hours reviewing songs from our old play list. At the end of the rehearsal, we realized that we had performed a number of the songs at near performance level. So we decided to schedule a Sunday gig and it is this coming Sunday!

I am amazed at how seamlessly we have come back together. It is such a joy to re-visit a period of life I thought was done. It reminds me again that friendship is not denoted by time or location. Anytime in our lives we have shared the authentic of who we are - that is always available.

So take a look at your life and the ups and downs and the curves and paths taken. All of these connections are always ever present. Since my favorite truth is that we don't do this alone it also means relationships don't end - they just go in-active. It only takes a phone call, an IM message, a Facebook re-connection, or a snail mail card to re-connect. There is always value to re-connection.

The history of our lives is not linear in nature. It can be visited at any point at any time. When I realized this it opened up a world of endless possibilities. This is going to be really fun exploring.

So don't be surprised if in the near future you get a connection from someone in your past. Open your heart and realize that this too is another spiritual practice. Remember Eckhart Tolle. There is no past or future and thus there is only now. I heard once that time is man's way of making sure everything doesn't happen all at once!

Keep exploring because it is all one massive tapestry........
