It has been said that growing old is only for the brave! The interesting part of that is a deeper truth - living the human life is for the brave!
One of the challenges is that in being spiritual beings we are at our best when we are in the Divine mode. Yet every aspect of our daily experience is a distraction from this Divine side. Relationship issues, health challenges, new cars and new jobs, taking in experiences in life, and just living fill our time and it becomes so easy to forget the spiritual side. John Lennon had it correct when he said, "Life is what happens while we are busy making other plans."
Thus as I've mentioned in earlier blogs our balance is finding those places that feed our Divine side. For years, when good things happened to me, I would tighten up because I just knew the other shoe would drop to balance the good/bad.
Each of us instinctively knows what truly feeds our soul. We know that and yet we run from it. So one of my beliefs is it is so much simpler than we make it. When we find those things that feed us, then we do them more often. No matter how simple it may seem.
I am in a physical health challenge that means I am cold all the time. This summer I have discovered if the temperature is over 100 degrees then one of my simple pleasures is sitting in my backyard in the sun baking. I bake and bake until the cold goes away. It is so simple yet so satisfying! Each of us have actions like this in our lives that truly feed us.
Holding a purring cat in one's lap, tending to a flower, working on a crossword puzzle, doing ten minutes of stretching, talking to an old friend, savoring a recipe - find your simple and feed your soul. Every day add to your filling the gas tank -= drop all preconceptions and projections and feed your soul! Divine satisfaction is simple contentment.
❤️ Love your blogs, Dave! Especially enjoyed the Humor one. It's always awesome to see you silly side. I remember you barking on the escalator at Nordstroms. You brought lots of smiles to so many folks who were hustling about doing their shopping. You bring great joy to so many. Thanks for that. Looking to more articles. Love and hugs.
