Go to the Light

Spoiler alert on today's blog! It is based on the truth that all of us are going to die. Yes, there is an ending to this journey on this planet in our temporary body we have been given.

This might bring up some of the wondrous discomfort around death. It seems like we can't stop celebrating when a new life arrives on the planet. Gender parties and gathering when the new baby has arrived.

Notice the difference on the other end. Michael Moran talked about losing his mother. As he drove to his next destination he was filled with anger that everyone was still doing normal things. Didn't they realize the world lost someone great and how could they walk into a deli to get a sandwich?

Thus the end of life can be so awkward. Current times have finally brought a time when there are many more protocols for preparing for death and getting all the details in order prior to the event.

I'm in pallative care which only means (my definition) that I have so many issues that I have worked with a pallative team to set up all the final details. It contains special information for the end of life.

I have a binder on my shelf (all my future events and all my data binders) that is entitled "My Journey Home." It contains the information for end of life.

It is interesting that the people I've known who are dying and are older than 95 will often say "I don't know why I'm still here?" All the parties with our friends at that point are occurring on the far side from where our friends are.

I only know the following. I have a sense that all this pain and challenge will not be around on the other side. In all the time on the planet, no one has gone to the other side and brought us back a bunch of information. The only feedback we get is in Near Death Experiences. The common experience is that of deep peace. I'll take that!

One of my favorite stories was when one of my friends had a girlfriend visitng. This woman had ended up being the house mother for the Dali Lama's monastary at Dharamsala in India. She was back to get a knee repair operation. We were at a surgey center waiting for her to be seen. It was a large room filled with people, then a long hallway to another building.

All the walls were filled with ethereal paintings. The three of us watched as a man and a woman walked down the long hallway to the room we were in. They were both in long white lab coats and were the picture of perfect health. They were beautifully good looking human beings walking with a purpose into our room They both had clipboards and when they arrived in the room they checked their clipboards.

Then the young woman stated in a beautiful voice, "anybody that is ready to go to the other side please come with us now." My friend looked at the two people and looked at us. She said, "If I knew it was that easy to pass on to the other side, I might have thought about leaving earlier."

Then a couple people in the waiting room got up and went with them. We know this pointed out to all three of us the unknown makes for strange bedfellows.

I think all of us have visions of having a really 'good' death. It is that vision of just going to sleep and just not waking up. That would be simple. I always thought that we should have a rehearsal funeral just like the wedding rehearsal just before the wedding. This would give us the opportunity to sit in the back of the room and hear all the 'stuff' they would talk about. It would be lovely, I hope.

In the end, since you won't be attending you can either have the celebration eactly the way you want as you help plan it, or you can take the easy way out because you won't be there. You let someone else put it all togehter.

Just some thoughts about how we will pass on to the next plane of life.........
