As we approach today, we must realize that we will come to a point when something we are doing does not turn out the way we expected. At that very moment, our next steps give us feedback on our approach to the universe.
I talk often about the single question we must ask. "Is this a friendly universe?" Einstein said that is the only question. For what we see through our eyes is seen through the filter of our expectations and our judgements and our perception. If we see the world as a place that is trying to 'get' us and take advantage there will be many examples.. If we see the universe as a place to take care of us and provide new adventures at every turn, there will. be many examples.
We see what we expect to see and then we move down our traditional path that fulfills the perception. Our spiritual job is to take a look at the other possibilities. There are other ways to see things; there are other ways to solve issues; there are other ways to live our life.
But it takes someone heavily involved in spiritual expansion to meet this approach to life. We can see that when we realize how few Thomas Edison's or Leonardo Da Vinci's there are.
These ae men who were constantly taking a look at new things and new ways to look at things.
There is a built in ego switch that is constantly looking for the routine so that we can avoid change. This is the smooth and easy way to do life. But it lacks any connection to the limitless possibilities that are always present in all choices.
I don't know why that has been a part of my look at life. A friend who lives in another state tries to check in with me at least once a year. He says he does this to see what it is I am doing now. I am always seeking the next grand adventure and I think this is what the world presents to us.
So a great personal question for each of us arises. What is the grand adventure that we are in the midst of achieving or taking first steps or just finishing? What is the next adventure ahead for us? I state it often in my blogs - in the words of President Bartlett "What's next?" If you don't see the next adventure, you are sitting in the harbor. Get out and explore; take the next step. As the author Susan Jeffers has said, "Feek the fear and do it anyway!" It means you will always be totally alive and alert with all your senses in full expectation that there is something ahead. Find it...........
