Conundrum

We are stuck in a conundrum. We are at a period of time when as a human race we have become very schizophrenic in nature. We believe in being diverse and we believe in being unique. It is important! Yet at the same time being diverse and unique leads us to 'us vs. them' philosophy.

Charles Evan Hughes once said, "When we lose the right to be different, we lost the privilege to be free. We must have differences between us; it is part of the wonderful flavor of life." Just imagine if Baskin-Robbins only had one flavor on the menu. That would truly be a boring menu.

I believe we are right on the cusp of taking the next step. I don't know what it is but it will be transformational and change everything. I base my belief on the huge amount of polarization occurring in today's world. At this point in time, there is more anti-semitism than ever before. Some politicians are making statements that hearken us back to the 1930's in Germany prior to World War II.

Yet on the other side of polarization there are works of kindness, of sacrifice, and of paying it forward that are in numbers never seen before.

The change is coming and you my friend have chosen to be here right now. You are here because of your skills and your talents that will be needed in coming days. But because of that you have an obligation; you have a job. Your job is to be the fully authentic you. This is no time to be wishy-washy. This is no time to be an observor of the process. You must step down off of the bleachers and get in the game. You must take some kind of step to say in your own way, "I'm ready to play coach; put me in!"

I don't have the answers. Remember the lantern we hold out in front of us only lights a few feet down the pathway. It is up to us to keep moving forward and taking the next step. Every step ahead is a spiritual one and can range from a struggle to a step up to the next level.
