Some of the things going on in the world seem so out of balance. One of the book series I love is called The Magic of Recluse by L.E. Modesitt. In the books, there is a philosophy that the world is always trying to keep a balance between chaos and order. So if there is a great deal of order in the world then more chaos will show up to balance it all out. I believe in this.
So I look around and there is chaos everywhere. I watch the news and see violence. I am astounded when I hear a father has bought his son a Christmas present of an assault rifle - even though his son has written threatening words about shooting people. I read that the young boy is at a new school and the first day of school he goes to the school counselor to talk about anxiety issues - then the second day he brings his gin to school and he uses it.
But I believe in the midst of all of this there is movement. There are things that are happening all over the world that we are not hearing about. Actions around love and peace and goodwill and paying it forward.
I watched this morning the story of a 14-year-old-boy who has now finished the painful promise of chemotherapy over a period of time, and has bee determined to be cancer free. In the hospital cancer ward hallway, there is a bell. This is a bell for those who have finished chemo to ring. The video showed this young man strutting and dancing down the hall, surrounded by family and hospital staff - all cheering. He walks up to the bell and stops, overcome with emotion. As he stood he bends over and starts to cry. At that point his little sister comes up to him. She puts her arms around his legs and hugs and hugs. These are the miracles of life with hope and inspiration. He then rings the heck out of the bell. He then picks up his little sister in his arms and heads for the rest of his family.
I want you to notice that I say over and over again we do not do this alone. We may try because of earlier trauma to isolate but sooner or later we will realize we are not on this journey alone.
The basic starting truth is that God is walking with us. At that point, it becomes our decision to know in order to spiritually grow we must open our hearts to receive love. Then the journey truly becomes real............have you found your tribe and your team yet?
