I believe that boring is a personal choice. God has created such an amazing world that being bored is only one more choice we have - and we have to consciously choose it.
Our world is a place of awe. What colors! What diversity and detail and heart filled visions! There are a thousand views for us to see and new ones right around the corner. When the pandemic, we were forced to stay home. It was at that point that we discovered YouTube videos of rainstorms in the forest. We found walking tours to different cities and different walking paths in the country. We could sit and quietly watch and listen to the patter of the rain. It was a meditation without having to leave our house.
It has continued to grow - this ability to go anywhere and see the world from our computer. It came at the perfect time; I have lost most of my mobility and through strong exercises and stamina I am building back up my ability to walk. But with Zoom, with the phone, and with other tools I am not limited. Instead I have the opportunity to step out in so many new creative ways.
We have a list of tasks and goals for us ahead. Some can easily be handled and some are a little more challenging. Some seem to be a wall that will stop us in our path. But one of the truths is that all obstacles are merely ways to move forward. There are times we have to stop, take a step back, and come back to our goal from a different angle.. There is always a way to accomplish our goal but not only must we think outside the box, we must move to the position that there is no box. Construction taught me there is always a way to get things done.
One of the sure ways to move forward is to allow the obstacle to be something that you and the team look at. How can 'we' accomplish the goal? Thus suddenly there is an organized effort to attack the issue of an obstacle and get it resolved. Just that re-framing means that there is a different perception in how we look at the issue. My personal belief is when we put our eyes on a situation and shine our light, we are that much closer to resolving the issue. We are creatures made by God in magnificence; there is nothing that cannot be solved.
My wife turned me on to Sudoku - I do not like them at all. I spend long periods of time staring at a puzzle. Suddenly the answer is there. Step away from the puzzle and then come back with a fresh set of eyes - there's the answer. It was right there all along.
